Founded in March 2002, YouthTruth, Inc. is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization serving the counseling needs of individuals and their families in St. Tammany Parish. 

The specific purpose of this agency is to provide individual, group, and family therapy to all those who desire such services or, are mandated by the courts or other entities to receive these services.  Further, it is our specific goal to effect change in the lives of our adolescent and adult populations by providing targeted therapy to individualized needs.

We utilize numerous interventions; e.g., community service, case management, group experiential therapy, individual and family therapy, psycho-education, educational enrichment, drug and alcohol counseling, and an intensive substance abuse outpatient to meet this goal.

PARENT RESPONSIBILITY

Program fees are based on a sliding scale; funding is available for treatment for those who meet eligibility. However, it is mandatory for parents or caregivers to attend the Parent Education and weekly Multi-Family groups in our adolescent programs.  It is important to encourage your child to attend the program and attain their specific treatment goals.  

STAFF

YouthTruth is staffed by social workers, counselors, family therapists, substance abuse counselors, certified teachers, and recreational therapists.  The treatment team is dedicated to helping individuals and their families navigate through all aspects of therapy.

CONFIDENTIALITY

Therapy sessions with a clinical staff member are “privileged” communication, and information from such sessions is not released without the client’s written consent.  Confidentiality will be broken in cases of suicidal or homicidal intent, and child or elder abuse, as mandated by law.

In March of 2002, YouthTruth, Inc. was founded with a basic philosophy of truth and is dedicated to facilitating positive change in the lives of others through the belief that all individuals inherently have a role in the community we call home. YouthTruth, Inc. was founded with the goal of serving the needs of at-risk youth with ideals  resounding in the principle that troubled individuals may be empow-ered to overcome adversity and angst,

through therapy and  education to peacefully, lawfully, and productively co-exist in our community. Our success with adolescents is largely due to the “teen friendly” environment which empowers youth to become proactive in their own change process. They are given the insight that they are the pilot in this process and YouthTruth serves as a navigational  instrument in leading them to their destination of success.

As a result of limited mental health resources due to Hurricane Katrina, YouthTruth began treating adults. Truth  Services was born and began serving the clinical needs of adults in 2005 and has continued growth in this population each year.  The common threads of lack of insight, limited support systems, and resistance to change are evident in our adult population as with our adolescent population.
